Cars in Germany's City Found Marked with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Law Enforcement Report

Approximately 50 cars have been smeared with what appears to be human blood in the German town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.

Cars, walls and postal boxes were defaced, sometimes with swastikas, they announced in a official communication.

Police state they were notified during the night on Wednesday, when a resident observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a reddish fluid.

The substance had been placed in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they reported.

Law enforcement then located many other vandalized cars and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.

These symbols are illegal in Germany under regulations outlawing the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.

Officials state early analysis indicate the fluid was likely human bodily fluid.

"There is still no lead as to its origin; officials are presently not informed of any physical harm in association with the event," they stated.

City officials stated they were trying "to resolve the incident" and have appealed to the community for information.

A senior official commented the incident left him speechless and needed to be solved promptly.

"This act affects the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the far-right attack in 2020," he posted on a platform, referring to the murder of nine people by a gunman aiming at individuals of foreign heritage in February 2020.
